Treatment ends. Check-ups don't. Here's what follow-up care is for, what happens if testicular cancer comes back, and every TCF guide on both.
Some of the tests used to diagnose and stage your cancer will keep happening from time to time after treatment ends. They show whether anything has changed or whether the cancer has come back.
You'll probably have check-ups often in the first year after surgery and less often after that. Men who have had testicular cancer also have a higher risk of cancer in the other testicle, so keep checking it and tell your doctor about anything unusual right away.
Surveillance means following your condition closely, with exams and tests on a regular schedule, without giving treatment unless the results change. It's used to find early signs that the cancer has come back.
